HOW DOES REFLEXOLOGY WORK?

Reflexology is a specific pressure technique applied to the feet or hands where all of your internal body structures and organs are mapped or mirrored.

It is a simple non-invasive treatment, which helps the body to maintain a delicate balance between all of the body’s glands, organs and structures to keep us in a state of good health.

Reflexology restores and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

Following illness, stress, injury or disease, your body is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. This gentle therapy encourages uric acid crystals to be broken down allowing the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.

Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. The body has the ability to heal itself.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology relieves stress and tension.

Organs, glands and systems that release and control cortisol, endorphins, serotonin,  dopamine and other hormones that can affect mood and cognitive function can be targeted through the pressure points in the feet to provide:

Deep relaxation Reducing stress levels.
Improved Sleep as the body relaxes

Enhanced Mood - The release of endorphins during reflexology can elevate mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.

Balanced Energy -  Reflexology aims to balance the body's energy flow, which can alleviate feelings of anxiety.

Reflexology improves nerve function and blood supply

Reflexology can help with improving nerve function by gently activating damaged nerve fibers and improving blood flow. The aim is to balance the body's autonomic nervous system, which controls physiological functions.

Improved blood flow Reflexology increases blood flow to the extremities, which helps deliver oxygen, electrolytes, & nutrients to cells.and remove toxins and reduce stagnation

Reduce the incidence of trapped nerves.by activating nerve fibers to send and receive signals through the central nervous system
.
Muscle Relaxation  improve blood and lymph circulation and restore energy flow and ease allowing muscles to relax and provide pain relief

Reflexology strengthens & balances the immune system

Reflexology can help with moving lymph flow  around the body and as a consequence helps to promote a faster immune response when the body calls for it..This helps move nutrients throughout the body and filter out unwanted toxins.

Helps with autoimmune conditions Reflexology balances and calms an overactive immune system.

Improves sleep by reducing stress and anxiety and will make you less likely to get sick.,

Calms the nervous system to promote relaxation and have a positive effect on the immune system.

Rebalancing the body's energy system to maintain the flow of vital energy through the body

Most people can benefit from a reflexology treatment since it brings relief and deep healing to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. It is not medical, it works holistically, therefore a Reflexologist cannot diagnose conditions or health problems. The aim of the therapy is to restore the body's natural ability for self-healing by encouraging energy flow around the body.

Usually a treatment session lasts for about one hour. A course of treatment will vary in length depending on your body's needs. This will be discussed with you at the first session. Generally, it is usually advisable to have a course of 6 treatments to balance the body and provide maximum benefit. After six to eight treatments waste deposits would have been broken down and the energy flow should be allowing the body to heal it and the systems to be working in unison. Many client’s like to maintain a treatment on a monthly basis after the initial course to ensure this balanced state is maintained as preventative mechanism

On your first visit there is an initial consultation to discuss factors such as past medical history, diet and lifestyle, emotional and physical issues in order to get to know you better and to understand your body's needs. I will then begin to work on your feet, or hands if necessary, noting problem areas. There may be discomfort in some places, but it is fleeting, and is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. For the most part, the sensation is pleasant and soothing. Reflexology will relax you while stimulating the body's own healing mechanisms. The majority of clients find reflexology extremely relaxing and often fall asleep!

Individuals respond to treatment in different ways; there may be a feeling of energy and well balance or you may feel tired and emotional for a day or so. Any reaction is beneficial as it shows that your body is responding to treatment and indicates that the healing process has begun. After a treatment it is advisable to: •Drink lots of water to flush toxins from the body, •Avoid any unnecessary stimulants such as alcohol or caffeine, •Eat a very light meal and •Above all allow your body to relax

It's best to wear loose and comfortable clothing, the only clothing to be removed are socks, tights and shoes, all that is exposed are the feet and ankles.
